Posted on September 21, 2015 by Daniel at 6:03 am

Timeshares have their pros and cons, but they’re not easy to get out of. Here are your options when you’re looking for a way out.

Take Advantage of the Cooling Off Period

Of course, these cooling off periods eventually expire, so you will have to move quickly if you want to take advantage of yours. It might disappear within a few weeks. This is a good option to be aware of for people who almost instantly regret buying the timeshare though! Check this option even if you think that your cooling off period has probably expired because it might not have yet.

Sell the Timeshare

Selling a timeshare is not the easiest or most stress-free process in the world. It can be very difficult to sell them on the resale market once you have one. Having said that, it certainly is possible. You just need to know what you’re doing. Of course, the easiest ones to sell are those in desirable resorts and locations. If you have intervals at appropriate and appealing times of the year, this will help too. You might have to be patient though. List the timeshare on a site like Ebay, and wait to see what happens.

This is especially important if you think you’ve been conned by a deal that wasn’t quite what it said it was. It’s not uncommon for timeshare contract to be used to dupe people. You should get advice from people who know what they’re talking about if you have any questions or concerns. There are lots of organisations that can help you get out of a timeshare contract.

See if Anyone You Know Wants It

If you know someone who might be interested in taking the timeshare off your hands, you should definitely take advantage of this. If you’re no longer using it, and you want to do something useful with the intervals you paid for, you could give it to them to use. If you give it away like this, you won’t get a fee for the timeshare, but you could save some money in the long term. At the very least, you’ll no longer have to pay the regular maintenance fees and other charges that come with having a timeshare. Also, you might want to consider taking a look at the best timeshare exit companies that you can rely on. Maybe, they might be able to assist you with selling off your timeshare!

Donate to an Organisation

There are lots of different organisations out there that accept donations of timeshares. This will probably be your last resort because you can’t get any of your money back if you decide to give the timeshare away. It’s a quick solution to your problem though. Selling a timeshare can take months or years, but if you donate it, the process can be over in a few weeks. The organisation you donate it to will then sell the timeshare and the proceeds will go to a charity, so you’ll be doing something good.
