Ways to Have A Beautiful Yard On A Reasonable Budget

Posted on August 17, 2016 by Daniel at 3:42 pm

People who spend their lives in real estate will tell you just how important it is to have a nice-looking yard when you’re looking to sell your home. People are all about first impressions and when you walk up to a place, the yard is in disarray, the trees and shrubs haven’t been pruned since 1976, the drainage has not been checked leading to water stagnation in the corner, and the weeds are so out of control it makes you feel like you’re stepping onto an episode of Ghost Hunters, it won’t bode well for the signing of papers and you being able to walk away with a check for a couple hundred thousand dollars made out to your name.

Of course, a beautiful yard is important for more than just the selling of a house, but that’s ultimately up to you to decide how much effort you’re going to put into the upkeep of your own yard. However, one thing you can certainly not ignore is the drainage. The absence of drainage or the presence of a clogged one can lead to major damage to the basement of the house due to seepage and mold growth. Hence, whether or not you want to carry out an expensive makeover, at least do the minimum by getting the drainage checked (if interested, click here).

Nonetheless, if the reason for letting it grow wild is for the sheer fact that you haven’t the money to pay for upkeep, here are ways to have a beautiful yard on a reasonable budget:

Lump Services into An All-In-One Package

Sometimes the reason that things are so expensive is because the little things add up. You pay the neighbor boy to mow your lawn, that’s $20 dollars, somebody else does the weed whacking, somebody else prunes the foliage, and by the end of it, you’re out a couple hundred dollars a week just you weren’t smart about your bundling. Things are always a better deal with you bundle and do all-in-one packages. Stop paying for individual services and just get somebody to give you the complete deal for a price tag that is less expensive.

Make Children Do The Work

In no way is this a post to promote child labor, but who said there was anything wrong with allowing the kids to do the work for a little extra change in their piggy bank? Children definitely need to be taught the value of hard work, and if you hire them to come and pull your weeds or spray your driveway, you’re giving them experiences that will benefit them well into adulthood.

You can pay them actually cash for their services, or you can pay them in chocolate chip cookies or carrot sticks. Either way, you’re not spending a lot, your yard looks great, and your kid or the neighbor’s kid is getting exercise, learning the value of working, and they’re able to start a college fund.

Bend Over and Take it Like A Man

In the case that the budget just won’t allow you to hire anybody, even the little neighbor kid to do your yard work for you. You can always just suit up, bend over to pull the weeds yourself, and take it like a man. The appearance of your house is ultimately on you and reflects on you, so it might just be one of those things you do because it’s part of being an adult and not spending money on certain things. It’s your call, but remember…a beautiful yard is important, so get it done.
