5 Tricks To Being An Independent Online Blog Writer

Posted on November 28, 2016 by Daniel at 11:22 pm

Do you have an ability to string together multiple sentences into a reasonably impactful message? Do you have a passion for words and their use, one you would like to share with others? Are you passionate about a subject, passionate enough to put together a regular communication to others. If you have ever been a journal writer or one who kept a diary, you could be a blog writer. What are some tricks to successful blog writing?

Write regularly

Developing a daily habit of writing will help you develop one of the essential tools necessary for a writer. The daily act of writing is equal to the daily act of working out. After two weeks, writing becomes an ingrained part of your life, almost an addiction. If you build time into your day and execute the work of writing, your are exercising your mind and skills much like exercising the muscles in your body. If you’re struggling to get started or you’ve been hit by writer’s block, watch this video to get some helpful tips on how to get yourself going. There’s nothing worse than knowing what you want to do but having no idea how to go about it, so sometimes it can be useful to seek out some inspiration.

Write what you know

Writing from what you know seems like it makes sense, but is not always easy. There are times you will have to do some research to support a position. The more you write from a position of authority and knowledge, the more impactful your writing is likely to be. Your confidence in your subject will also come out in your words and free up your creativity. The freer you are, the looser and more natural your words will come out on the page, and the easier and more natural your words will be to read.

Count your words

Keeping your blog word count in between 450 and 600 words will help engage your readers without overwhelming them. You are not trying to beat them senseless with your ability to expound on a subject. Choose your words carefully, engage them with panache, and let them go. If you write well, they will be back.

Sir links a lot

Well, not too much. Adding links to what you write will eventually drive traffic to your blog. Use links to connect your readers with information that adds to the experience of what you are sharing. Link to informative sites that teach and help communicate what you are saying more fully. If you are writing about an experience with an elephant, link to Wikipedia’s page on elephants to provide a completely interactive experience.

Include pictures

Since you were five years old, you have liked looking at pictures in the books you read. Not a whole lot has changed for the majority of readers in the world. People are not online seeking to read a novel, they are snapshotting and moving, skimming and off they go. If you have good, well thought out images, you get their attention, then your words hold them and bring them back.
