3 Tips for Saving Money On Your Cell Phone Expenses

Posted on January 12, 2018 by Daniel at 4:31 pm

Just because everyone wants and, let’s face it, needs a quality, reliable cell phone doesn’t mean that everyone should be paying an obscene amount of money on their monthly cell phone expenses. Luckily, there are quite a few things you can do to help lower these expenses while still getting the phone and coverage you want and need. To show you how, here are three tips for saving money on your cell phone expenses.

Bundle

One great way to save yourself some money is to bundle the services you get through a cell phone carrier or other service provider. According to Erin Huffstetler, a contributor to The Balance, choosing to create a bundle with your services, like your cell phone, cable, Internet, home phone and more, could help you save a lot of money on all of these things combined. While your overall costs might be more than if you weren’t paying for these services at all, if you already are paying for each of these things separately, you may want to see what your savings could be if you were to bundle these services together.

Add More Lines and Split The Costs

If you have a straight cell phone plan with your carrier, one way you can get your costs lower is to add more lines. To do this, you can either add more people to your current plan or jump on a plan with other people. While the total costs for the plan will increase, Kelsey Sheehy, a contributor to NerdWallet.com, shares that the cost for adding each line usually decreases each time, which means you’ll be splitting a smaller total amount with a larger amount of people. This can help you save a lot of money on your monthly cell phone expenses.

Don’t Get Unlimited Data Unless You Actually Need It

In today’s cell phone market, unlimited services are a very popular thing. However, when it comes to data, getting an unlimited plan often isn’t the best deal for your money. According to Eli Blumenthal, a contributor to USA Today, most people don’t use enough data to make paying for an unlimited amount worth the cost. So before you choose to go this route, make sure you’re currently using a lot of data and that getting an unlimited amount would be a financially smart decision. Otherwise, only pay for the amount of data that you’re normally using each month.

If you feel that you’re paying too much for your cell phone plan each and every month, consider using the tips mentioned above to help you find ways to minimize your costs while still getting the services you want and need.
