3 Reasons Investing In A Business Mentor Is A Wise Financial Decision

Posted on December 5, 2016 by Daniel at 9:59 pm

In the world of business and setting yourself up for success, knowing what to do and where to spend money is an ongoing discovery. Sometimes, you make the wrong choice and your losses document that fact, and other times, you get lucky and a decision that may or may not have had the merit of a lifetime of experience behind it makes you a good chunk of money because you were in the right place with the right idea at the right time.

Your walk in business is going to encompass all of the above. Some days will be great, others, not so great, but in the realm of finances, you’re going to want to get your stuff figured out sooner rather than later so that you can start to bring in cash flow and pocketing a large portion of equity for yourself. What are some things you should do to get there? Well, for starters, hire a business mentor. Here are 3 reasons why that money will be well spent:

Their Story is Your Story

You’ve got an idea, a drive, and a goal, but you might lack the experience that gives you a leg up in the market. When you hire a financial advisor, their story becomes your story. Everything they’ve been through, learned, their failures, their successes, and the lessons they have learned are nuggets of wisdom for you to draw from. You personally don’t desire your business to fail, but if you are getting advice from an entrepreneur who has been through it all, it will place you in a position to succeed for many different reasons, one of which being the sheer fact that their story becomes a part of your story.

Two Brains Are Better Than One

You are very connected to your business. It’s your baby, so when things happen and you need to step back to get some perspective, you can turn to your mentor and ask for their opinion on the matter. Your emotions might be at a high and you won’t be able to see things clearly, or straight. A business mentor is a wise investment, financially, because paying somebody for their brain during times like this is absolutely invaluable, and could actually save your business.

You Gain A Potential Partner

Aside from being able to pick your mentors brain about valuable business pursuits and having their experience be your experience, having a business mentor is a very wise investment because there is potential to gain a great business partner further down the road. If it’s not with your mentor himself, your mentor probably knows a host of other entrepreneurs and knows which ones would make great partners for your company.

In short, a mentor is a brilliant thing to have. Choose wisely, and watch how things start falling into place.
